Constellation of Endearment
Shortlisted for the 2016 Libris Awards
Now part of the collection of Artspace Mackay

Statement
A box or a drawer. A place where we gather – for significant reasons or no reason at all – our private correspondence.

Year after year, we build a museum of our history, granting access to a single random visitor: reminiscence.

Like spatial coordinates, greeting cards and their handwritten wishes pinpoint festive milestones, vulnerable times, and all other manner of occasions and sentiments.

This work is a homage to the fading ritual of sending and receiving greeting cards. It comprises cards I have collected on and off for the past twenty-five years.

Like greeting cards, fortune cookies carry a message of goodwill and wisdom waiting to be opened and enjoyed. Five hundred fortune cookies merge into a celebration of the human spirit, a constellation of endearment.
